Made in Suffolk! Celebrating our local business on #Suffolk Day
This weekend is a celebration of all things Suffolk, from the historic towns and villages, to the incredible coastlines and unspoilt countryside. We feel so lucky to be based in such beautiful surroundings and for almost 15 years, have been creating bespoke fitted kitchens in Suffolk.
Starting out as a bespoke fitted kitchen, bedroom and bathroom showroom back in 2005, over the years we are so proud to have expanded and completed conversions of all three barns at our site in Rendlesham.
The Granary – Our Bespoke Kitchen Showroom in Suffolk
Packed full of beautifully handcrafted displays from contemporary kitchens and bathrooms in Suffolk to ornate and traditional kitchens and bedrooms in Suffolk. Full of beams, our showroom is a true representation of what we can achieve with your space. Whether you have a converted barn, a listed home or a brand-new house. With our endless bespoke ideas, we can achieve your dream space. With free onsite parking and easy access from A12, it is easy to come and have a look around.
The Pantile Building – Our Handmade furniture Workshop
Our second barn leading from the showroom is our fully equipped workshop and machine shop. Where we have our team of fully trained and experienced craftsmen all working side by side. Producing our well known beautifully crafted furniture by hand. Within this barn we turn sustainably sourced tulip, oak and beech into hand crafted, beautiful bespoke kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms and home studies.
We have large benches for our craftsmen to work from. Beyond the benches is our machine shop which is packed full of the latest machines to make our production run as smooth as possible. We pride ourselves on our handmade details and so many elements of our manufacture process remain skilfully done by hand.
The Old Calf House – Our Furniture Finishing Service
When your furniture is fully manufactured it is sent straight across to our finishing barn. In here it is sprayed either with a primer if you are having a hand painted finish or, if you are going for a more contemporary sleek finish, then it is sprayed with a colour of your choice. This creates a smooth, solid colour. When fully dry and sealed it is all carefully loaded into our vans with our highly skilled installation team on route to you.
Our clients love to look around our converted barns before and during the manufacture of their new furniture and we are more than happy to show you around. This is what we do best, and we love to show it off. Watch your project develop from an idea to a hand drawn plan to stunning bespoke handmade furniture made in Suffolk.

Choosing the right kitchen worktops in Ipswich and East Anglia
Here at Debenvale we design, manufacture and install projects including kitchen worktops in Ipswich and East Anglia and we understand the importance of choosing the right kitchen worktop to go with your new kitchen.
You may start by choosing the colours and texture that you are drawn to and that will compliment your choice of kitchen cabinets and flooring. The kitchen worktop is one of the first things that you see in a new kitchen so its important to browse a range of styles and colours. We will provide samples for you to take home so you can see them in the natural lighting of your room.
Consider the practicalities of your choice, for example solid wood provides a beautiful finish to your luxury kitchen but will require some upkeep to keep it looking at its best, in contrast to certain quartz and granites which can be a good choice for low maintenance and a long lasting surface.
Read on for a summary of the kitchen worktops in Ipswich and East Anglia that we offer:
Granite has been a highly popular choice of worktop over the years. This top is durable and very functional but also adds a stylish look and opulent feel to your new luxury kitchen.
Granite is a natural stone, so each pattern is unique to each slab and makes a statement in your kitchen.
Granite is extremely strong and can be heat, scratch and stain resistant.
Most commonly available with a smooth, polished surface it’s hygienic, non pourous and therefore easy to keep clean. If you are looking for a matt appearance granite is also available with a honed surface, this is more unique but be aware the non-shiny honed surface makes the granite porous so it will need regular sealing and can be susceptible to damage from spills and stains.
Quartz is an incredibly popular worktop choice with our clients. Although it’s a man-made stone it has the durability of natural stone and minimal upkeep.
The great benefit of quartz is that it can withstand nearly everything, its scratch proof which makes it low – maintenance and can be heat resistant too, although we always advise using a heat resistant matt before placing pans straight from the hob onto the worktop.
Quartz can be customised to suit any kitchen and comes in a wide range of colours and styles from natural finishes and subtle marbled patterns right through to bold designs and light reflecting glass and mirror fragments which will add sparkle within the stone.
Quartz can comes in various thicknesses and slab sizes and we offer professional fabrication to your required surface area. Some brands will also offer a guarantee for as much as 25 years on their quartzstone products.
Corian is a mix of plastic resin and bauxite pigments which makes it one of the most design flexible materials on the market.
Corian is a very hygienic and dirt/bacteria resistant material due to the fact that its manufactured with no joints to trap any germs. You can continue the smooth flow of surface with a corian sink within the worktop.
Its smooth and satin finish is highly desirable but it can mark with light scratching so it does require upkeep and careful handling and as it is made from a plastic mix it is not heat resistant.
Corian is one of the most experience materials out of all the options due to its flexibility.
Wood adds natural beauty to any kitchen. Weather you have a traditional space or an ultra-modern one it works for all areas. We offer a range of solid kitchen worktops in ipswich, from Oak to Walnut, we can provide all solid wood types machined in our own on site workshop.
Wood often improves with age and settles into the area it is fitted and if any accidents occur, being solid, they can be sanded away.
However to keep your wooden worktop looking the best possible, you will regularly need to lightly sand and re oil your surface and you will need to use chopping boards and trivets to protect against hot pans and knifes.
Laminate is made from a high-density chipboard and then coated with a plastic laminate.
It comes in various colours, sizes, designs and patterns.
Laminate is an affordable solution if you are working to a budget or perhaps looking for a lower cost option for a utility room.
Most laminates provide a waterproof surface making them easy to clean when a spill does occur. However, laminate isn’t as tough as stone surfaces and can be damaged by sharp and heavy objects. They can also be susceptible for hot pans leaving rings. Laminate is can restrict your kitchen design, for example, Belfast and under mount sinks won’t work with laminate and the width sizes need to be considered when designing unique spaces. That said, laminate has come a long way and can still provide a great surface solution for your kitchen.
Mix your materials
We love to combine materials and textures, so why not combine both wood and stone surfaces together for a perfect blend of luxury!
Your kitchen worktop is a big investment and we will help you make the right choice to suit your kitchen project. At our kitchen showroom in Suffolk, we have samples of all the options for you to see. We fit many kitchen worktops in Ipswich and East Anglia and can offer you lots of advice along with portfolio photos of previous projects.
If you need any help, then do pop into the showroom or call us on 01394 421214 and we would be more than happy to advise.

What is a shaker kitchen? Get some great shaker style kitchen examples here
What is a shaker kitchen?
The word ‘Shaker’ is commonly used in the kitchen industry to describe a particular style of a door and is a popular choice of kitchen design.
Historically its creation dates back the mid 18th century, where a religious community known as the Shakers lived in the North West of England. The community was self sufficient with a strong belief in cleanliness, honesty and frugality at the heart of their economic success. They raised most of their own food and pursued a variety of trades and hand crafts.
Shaker craftsmen were well known for a style of shaker furniture that was plain, durable and functional. Shakers were well respected by other communities and their industry went on to create many useful inventions still used today, from tools such as the shaker peg, weaving looms and the flat broom, to machinery including the circular saw and wheel driven washing machine.
The Shakers dedication to hard work and perfection resulted in a huge range of architecture, furniture and handicraft styles.
How is a shaker kitchen made?
A shaker door is well proportioned and made up of 5 pieces with a frame and recessed centre panel.
It’s a popular choice for its simplicity and classic look and there are many ways to personalise the style to suit your home and taste.
The door itself can be made from solid wood such as Oak or Walnut with a laquered finish to bring out the woods natural beauty, or they can be hand painted or sprayed any colour. Details such as lambslip or beadings can be added to achieve a more ornate look.
The door can be fitted to the front of the kitchen frame or set into the frame to give the appearance of a more substantial piece of furniture, we call this an ‘inset frame kitchen’ or ‘framed kitchen’.
We also offer the shaker style in a curved door, to achieve this we have invested in equipment which uses suction to shape the door into a curved shape at varying radius’s.
Teamed with dovetail drawer boxes and solid cabinetry, a shaker kitchen is adaptable, timeless and long lasting, suiting both traditional and contemporary designs. A perfect choice for any home.

Silestone quartz new Eternal series

Modern or traditional, classic or quirky? Where to begin when choosing your perfect kitchen style…
So, you are looking for a new kitchen but where do you begin when it comes to designing one of the most important rooms in your home and choosing your kitchen style? Your new kitchen is used by every member of your household for cooking, socialising and entertaining; for many the kitchen is the heart of their home.
When customers come to us and ask, what sort of kitchens do you make? Our answer is simple, we can make anything you like. Choose any wood, colour or finish, with our own workshop on site, the options are almost endless.
There are many things to consider when designing a new kitchen. One of best places to start is to look at choices of kitchen door styles, although we have no set ranges, we can separate kitchens into 3 key door styles.
Flat / Panel Door Kitchen
This type of door is most suited to modern or contemporary kitchens, giving a simple and minimal look and feel. These doors can be made of any type of wood or sprayed in any colour and finish, from a shiny high gloss effect through to a satin or matt finish.
Your choice of handles will also affect the overall look, from brushed steel pulls, pewter bar handles, or brass knobs there are a wide range of shapes, sizes and materials to choose from. Or for a completely sleek finish you could opt for a handleless push to open door, or a recessed handle design.
For additional interest, why not think about adding bi-folding doors or a tasteful mixture of wood and colours to add individuality to your modern kitchen. Think about your preference of straight angled edges or soft curves, both options are possible with this contemporary style of kitchen.
Shaker Door In Frame Kitchen
Often associated with country or traditional kitchen styles, the shaker door is a timeless option but it can also be carefully blended with modern touches to create a transitional kitchen style that is an elegant blend of traditional and contemporary.
Of all kitchen styles, the shaker is the most timeless and unlikely to go in and out of fashion. We can build in all types of wood or a hand painted kitchen is also popular and allows you the option of repainting in the future.
The shaker door is a handmade kitchen door with raised panels and can be fitted to the exterior of a cabinet or set within a frame. Features can be enhanced by adding beading details around the door or frame and shaker doors can be straight or curved, a great idea for your kitchen is to incorporate both to enhance and create stunning features.
Inset Frame Handleless Kitchen
For those looking for something completely different, we have evolved this modern flat panel door with a handle free design and set it within a frame.
Available in any colour or finish and can be combined with wooden, metal or glass in set handle features this style ticks the boxes of unique and contemporary.
These are just a few examples of the diversity of kitchen styles available, to see more examples of our work browse our gallery.
With all our kitchens the insides of your kitchen cabinets can be built in any type of wood or colour, to match or give a contrast against your choice of door. Remember that all kitchen styles can be tailored to your exact specification.
Traditional methods are employed during our onsite manufacture process where your custom made kitchen is carefully built by hand with features such as dove tail drawer boxes, soft close hinges and heavy load bearing drawer runners used as standard with all our installations.
Our showroom includes examples of all door styles and solid wood kitchen units and better still we can take you into the adjoining workshop to meet our highly skilled staff and see the techniques they employ.

Some great ideas for choosing a kitchen or bathroom floor
When designing your kitchen or bathroom there are so many factors to consider; door styles, work surfaces, splash backs, appliances and of course flooring.
At our Suffolk based showroom we show a range of flooring on our kitchen and bathroom displays along with sample boards and tiles for you to see, feel and get some great design ideas for your kitchen or bathroom flooring. We will take time to discuss the many options with you during our design process and to ensure that your choice of flooring is the most suitable for your home and lifestyle.
For natural beauty, choose from travertine, limestone, marble, slate or terracotta. Stone floors are long lasting and are available in a range of sizes and finishes whether tumbled, brushed, honed or polished to achieve your desired look. Stone tiles are porous so we will carefully seal them for you once laid and provide advice on the most suitable cleaning products to maintain their beautiful finish.
Porcelain is a popular choice, being much harder than ceramic and so offering a durable and hardwearing floor while achieving a stunning finish. Porcelains can give the appearance of marble, stone or even wood, being waterproof and stain resistant they make a great choice for any kitchen or bathroom floor.
Another great idea for kitchen or bathroom floor tiles and currently on trend is to use decorative patterned tiles to provide a focal point or divide the floor area, to separate kitchen and dining for example. The effect is stunning.
Wood flooring offers warmth and gives character to your room. You can choose from a range of timber including Oak and Walnut.
A solid and structurally sound base is essential to avoid cracking or movement and this is all part of the work that our experienced fit team will undertake during the preparation process to make sure that your flooring stands the test of time.
Under floor heating can also be fitted under your flooring with a timed thermostat keeping you in control of your floor temperature all year round.
To discuss your next project and get some more flooring ideas for kitchens or bathrooms, please pop along to the showroom to see samples for yourself or get in touch to book a free personal design.
