Library wall project in Suffolk
One of our valued clients was looking for a library style wall from the floor to ceiling to display and store their treasured books, trophies, record collections and more. So we set out to create a design completely made to measure to their personal requirements, including a movable rolling ladder for ease of access to all shelves.
Practical design process
Once the design process was complete and our client happy with our design, the plans and specifications were handed across to our skilled cabinet makers who bring the design to life using high quality raw materials and solid woods. Our team of cabinet makers bring together decades of experience and take great pride in their work ensuring that each and every piece of furniture we produce is of the highest standard for our clients.
Fully manufactured at Debenvale
When the woodworking elements are completed, the furniture is then carefully finished in our onsite finishing booth with lacquer to bring out and protect the fine quality of the Oak used in this piece of furniture.

Beautiful Georgian Bespoke Kitchen
Earlier this month we visited on one of our most recently finished bespoke kitchen projects in Ipswich.
Our customers approached us last year looking to change their existing dining room to a new kitchen in their stunning Georgian home. With its high ceilings and many original features the room boasts breathtaking views across the gardens and beyond and is flooded by natural light, our client felt she simply wanted to spend more time in here and convert the rarely used dining room into a new kitchen for her family home.
We started with creating hand-drawn designs including floor plans and elevations. This gave our client a clear idea of our plan for their bespoke kitchen and how this would work for our client in their day to day life.
Throughout the design process, we give all our clients full access to design ideas, paint, wood, handles and worktop samples, allowing our clients to know exactly what they are getting and what the end result will be like.
When our client was happy with everything, their kitchen went through to our onsite workshop here in Rendlesham, Suffolk. Where it was handcrafted and built by our talented craftsmen. The wonderful part of having our onsite workshop is our customers can pop in and have a look at their new kitchen starting to take shape. We think this is a lovely touch to the process.
Our client was looking for a contemporary yet traditional style with a slight Provence flair flowing throughout the kitchen. We designed a traditional styled shaker door with a simple bead on the frame to add that detailing our client was looking for. A beautiful chrome knob handle adds an elegant touch and dove tail drawers with a chrome cup handle create a simple and effortless bespoke kitchen.
Along the road, a couple of details were changed for example our client picked a different cornice from their original decision. This could be easily rectified by having the workshop on site. This means the small details can be made more personal to their space.
Before and after
At the start of the project, the room was stripped with great care taken to maintain all the original features including coving, picture rail, mirror and radiator. We worked carefully around the chandelier which was to become a key focal point in the new kitchen.
We created a mantle area from what was a fireplace chimney breast, taking out part of the wall and putting in a lintel. The recess was then boarded and plastered to create a smooth finish ready to have the units installed.
Earlier this year we started the installation process. The project is fully project managed by us. Organising the fitters, electricians, plasterers and painters. Over a period of time, the kitchen started to take shape and come together nicely.
The floor tiles were fitted by our installation team and is a beautiful natural limestone flooring in Mink. Tying together to rest of the interiors and the beautiful surroundings.
Once installed the kitchen was ready for hand painting in a colour of our client’s choice. We used Little Greene paint as this is the brand we love and trust. It gives us the finish that we aim to achieve on all our projects and the colour chosen on this project is Rolling Fog Mid.
Completed kitchen project
Through this kitchen the detailing is carried on into the bespoke cornices mapping the top of the units with stop-chamfered columns on each of the corners, complimenting the original picture rail feature sitting just above the wall units. The exterior plinth has a 45-degree angle on the top edge creating a clean finish.
When you first walk into this kitchen you come across the large island but if you take a glance to the right-hand side you will see the bank of tall larder units. These are oak interiors with internal sensor lighting, turning on when the left-hand door is opened and switching off when the doors are closed.
The two outside units are larger double door larders with internal drawers and spice racks on the inside of the doors. These can hold anything from spices to sauces and can be made and modified to your preferences.
The drawers are oak dove tail drawers and can hold up to 40kg of weight with a soft close runner, with shelving above to hold all of your pantry goods. Integrated Neff larder fridge and larder freezer are concealed centrally in the units.
The island is a large span of worktop including a seating area for two one end, creating a social area. A useful pop-up socket has been designed into the middle worktop for charging electrical items. Included on the island are two heavy load bearing pan drawers which are holding all our clients pots and pans.
Turning around from the island to face the main kitchen run. On the left hand side we designed a tall oven housing including the Neff combi and Neff Slide&Hide single oven. Having this oven space all in one area creates easy cooking facilities and having the island behind you creates a large span of working and cooking area.
Quartz stone covers the entire work surfaces. This one is in Sierra by CRL Quartz and we think it tones in perfectly with the rest of the kitchen creating a soft and calming feature.
A double sink with waste disposal has been installed along with a three way tap with a filter flow so drinking water is easily accessible. Below is an integrated Neff dishwasher and double bin for general waste and recycling, all tucked away out of sight.
Above is a gorgeous open shelving unit where our client has placed her paintings and ornaments illuminated by LED strips routered into the shelving. This gives the sink area a focal point within the kitchen.
Overall this project has transformed a relatively unused dining room into the a gorgeous bespoke kitchen which has now become the heart of the home.
It is a gorgeous internal framed bespoke kitchen with intricate detailing matching the original coving, picture rails and skirting. The stylish and sophisticated theme is kept up throughout the whole room with our client’s keen eye for detail.
Karen from Ipswich, said ……
“Huge thanks to you all for making the process so painless. We all are thrilled with the result and spend so much more time in the new space, its an absolute pleasure!”

Victorian townhouse kitchen transformation
A Stunning Victorian Townhouse Kitchen in Ipswich
We were delighted to undertake the renovation of this beautiful Victorian townhouse shaker kitchen in Ipswich, Suffolk. This is another of our great projects from our Kitchens team.
This part of the property was originally the kitchen and conservatory. The home was having extensive building works to remove and extend over the old conservatory.
Our clients were looking for a kitchen to compliment the style and age of their home, making the best use of the space and with a central island unit for preparing and dining. This is a very large L shaped space with a part vaulted ceiling and step down to the dining area and so it was important to accentuate these features and maximise the feeling of space and light.
With a large room to work with, we designed an ultra large central island unit with a round sink bowl and plenty of surface space for preparation. Around the island are large drawers, a hidden pull out waste bin and built in wine cellar and Neff oven.
All other appliances were kept to this end of the kitchen to make a practical cooking area, with a substantial mantel framing their existing Rangemaster cooker and creating a central focal point.
To the right we included a Fisher Paykal American fridge freezer and to the left, drawers and cupboard space with with a pull out swivel system in the corner, Oak shelving and a additional sink.
A round seating area was included at the opposite end of the island, underneath the vaulted ceiling and in sight of the large glass doors with views across the dining room and garden.
The wall behind has been filled with a large dresser with in built Oak larder and glass fronted display cabinets.
A mixture of materials were included throughout the kitchen, the units were hand painted with Oak inside the cabinets and featured on the island, shelving and mantel. The step was also carefully handcrafted in Oak and this becomes beautiful feature in the room.
The island and work surfaces are topped with Arden Blue Suede Silestone and floors are limestone flooring.
” My favourite piece is the island and mantel. We were initially concerned about the size of the island as it was so large but it fills the space perfectly and the mantel just sets it all off.
Everything works which comes down to the initial design and planning stages, we were never told that something couldn’t be done. I could never quite visualise the floor step but now it’s in I absolutely love it, it’s become a key feature of the room.
There is no wasted space and a place for everything. I have so much flexibility with all the cupboard space, its so versatile.
The team were terrific, they really were. Nothing was too much trouble and they didn’t have it easy as there was a lot of building going on so lots of different trades coming and going and getting in their way. They were all such nice guys, very professional and nothing was too much trouble. They had a great attitude.
My father was a carpenter by trade and he was very impressed as it was all be installed, he said that you could tell that everything was very well built.
We had no issues at all, the team just got with the job.
We absolutely love it!”

Sleek and seamless modern corian kitchen transformation in Felixstowe, Suffolk
Our customer originally had a traditional country style kitchen with oak doors and black granite worktops but was looking to modernise and create a more contemporary feel to their kitchen. They wanted a central island unit and were looking to include two built in ovens side by side, integrated appliances and an induction hob.
We offer all styles of doors in any colour, wood or finish with many samples to see and feel in our showroom. Having discussed the options, our customer decided they liked the look of the flat door with a ‘j’ shape handle built in to keep the sleek style they were looking for. They opted for an off white/pale grey colour with a modern satin finish.
We discussed the pros and cons of different worktops and gave some samples to the customer to take away with them to help them decide.
The customer liked the look and feel of Corian which gives a hygienic and completely seamless work surface carrying through to the upstands, splashback and built in sink with a practical steel base.
They chose a tap by Franke in a silk steel finish to compliment this modern corian kitchen.
Storage was an important feature so the design included large pull out drawers providing plenty of space for plates, pans and kitchen utensils and with runners capable of holding weights of up to 40kg. All cupboards have high quality soft close hinges and the bi folding wall units provide additional storage in keeping with the overall contemporary style.
A concealed pull out sectioned bin and space saving LeMans pull out corner was included within the design to maximise storage space.
All lighting, electrical and plumbing work was also included.
As an authorised dealer of many leading brands, we discussed the product features available and our customer opted for Miele single oven with moisture plus and combination microwave oven with a warming drawer, a 5 zone induction hob, integrated larder fridge and dishwasher.
For extraction, a slimline Elica sleek white glass hood was chosen as this is discrete, simple and stylish from the underside and again adds to the modern feel
“I love the design of my kitchen, it’s well thought out and makes the best use of the space in the room. Andrew is very knowledgable and clearly enjoys what he does, everything was thought about and planned for so that there were no hidden expenses later down the line. He really listened to me and understood what I was trying to achieve and gave me lots of ideas and practical advice.
I cannot fault the team who installed the kitchen, they were all friendly and professional and did a fantastic job. The fit went really smoothly and I always felt at ease with everyone and that nothing was ever too much trouble.
I am so happy with our kitchen, I would definitely recommend the team at Debenvale.”
