The perfect fit! How to maximise space with angled wardrobes to fit sloping ceilings and eaves

We are often asked about angled wardrobes and bedroom furniture to fit into sloping ceilings and awkward spaces. Free standing furniture or off the shelf products leave gaps and lost space where as custom built angled wardrobes can be crafted to fit perfectly providing a neat and tidy solution maximizing every inch of the space in your room.

We recently completed this three-bedroom ultra-modern custom made project in a new build home locally to us in Suffolk.

Our client came to us looking for wardrobes for their three bedrooms, all of which had sloping ceilings to work with. They wanted something that was simplistic and modern so it would compliment their home and fit discretely into the eaves of each room. They wanted as much storage as possible including full height hanging and drawers.

We came up with a design that worked for our client and their space. A flat door with recessed handles a metre long which are easy to hold and open at any angle.

The benefit of a recessed handle means no handles sitting proud into the room resulting in a narrowing standing space in front of the wardrobes. All wardrobes included full height hanging and drawers as client requested.

In all three bedrooms there are angles to design and work around. To achieve the perfect furniture angle we complete a site survey and carefully make a template of the angle to provide to our skilled workshop team. This way we know when making and fitting these units, we will achieve a perfect fit without any gaps. The space between the ceiling and the unit would be flush resulting in no voids and neat and tidy scribed edges.

Templating is one of our tried and tested methods and is something we know is a must when dealing with any angle or beam.

We also designed and made matching bedside tables for all three rooms. These include two matching height drawers with runners that have full extension, so you can access the whole drawer. These were kept free standing so can be moved around if required.

All of the drawers can hold an impressive 40kg in each and have a soft close finish.

We sprayed these units in a matt finish in ‘Flint’ from the Little Greene Colours of England palette. This colour is simple, clean and universal. It is very similar to what our client already had on the walls, so it creates a great sense of space keeping the room light and airy.

From the initial measuring and design to our hand made manufacture process and finally the precision installation, our team work closely together on all of our projects to achieve the greatest results.

Mr Livesey from Suffolk has rated our service as five star and said:

“I am so pleased with my bedroom furniture, I needed bespoke furniture as all bedrooms are in the roof space with angled ceilings, the design has maximised storage space whilst minimising loss of floor space, I had choice of colour, finish and handle type.

The fitters were polite and kept work clean and tidy they also were happy to check I was happy as they progressed. I have no hesitation in recommending Andrew and his team 5*”
