Modern or traditional, classic or quirky? Where to begin when choosing your perfect kitchen style…

So, you are looking for a new kitchen but where do you begin when it comes to designing one of the most important rooms in your home and choosing your kitchen style? Your new kitchen is used by every member of your household for cooking, socialising and entertaining; for many the kitchen is the heart of their home.

When customers come to us and ask, what sort of kitchens do you make? Our answer is simple, we can make anything you like. Choose any wood, colour or finish, with our own workshop on site, the options are almost endless.

There are many things to consider when designing a new kitchen. One of best places to start is to look at choices of kitchen door styles, although we have no set ranges, we can separate kitchens into 3 key door styles.

Shaker kitchen style 1

Flat / Panel Door Kitchen

This type of door is most suited to modern or contemporary kitchens, giving a simple and minimal look and feel. These doors can be made of any type of wood or sprayed in any colour and finish, from a shiny high gloss effect through to a satin or matt finish.

Your choice of handles will also affect the overall look, from brushed steel pulls, pewter bar handles, or brass knobs there are a wide range of shapes, sizes and materials to choose from. Or for a completely sleek finish you could opt for a handleless push to open door, or a recessed handle design.

For additional interest, why not think about adding bi-folding doors or a tasteful mixture of wood and colours to add individuality to your modern kitchen. Think about your preference of straight angled edges or soft curves, both options are possible with this contemporary style of kitchen.

Shaker Door In Frame Kitchen

Often associated with country or traditional kitchen styles, the shaker door is a timeless option but it can also be carefully blended with modern touches to create a transitional kitchen style that is an elegant blend of traditional and contemporary.

Of all kitchen styles, the shaker is the most timeless and unlikely to go in and out of fashion. We can build in all types of wood or a hand painted kitchen is also popular and allows you the option of repainting in the future.

The shaker door is a handmade kitchen door with raised panels and can be fitted to the exterior of a cabinet or set within a frame. Features can be enhanced by adding beading details around the door or frame and shaker doors can be straight or curved, a great idea for your kitchen is to incorporate both to enhance and create stunning features.
