A spacious and stylish family Kitchen in Woodbridge with a two tone finish
With a minimal and sophisticated feel, this two tone modern kitchen in Woodbridge combines both light and dark grey colours with high quality appliances and beautiful quartzstone surfaces.
Originally 2 separate rooms, the connecting wall was taken down to open up the area and create a spacious family kitchen with seating around the island unit and a traditional dining table.
“We had been to many companies for designs but Andrew was the only person who came up with a completely different idea for the layout. He thought outside of the box.”
A spacious island for preparation, cooking and dining was central to the design, with a Neff gas induction hob and extractor neatly concealed in the ceiling above.
We designed a bank of tall units with eye level ovens, warming drawer, larder fridge and a swivel larder unit offering ample storage space for kitchen essentials, all within easy reach of the island unit.
We included an L shaped run of units, wall to wall, with large pan drawers and bi folding wall units as an additional feature. The sink by Franke was placed centrally at the rear window with a high quality Perrin and Rowe tap.
Finishing touches to our design included a wine cellar, pull out bin, built in cutlery drawers, feature radiators and curved units and columns to soften the look.
“All the guys were fantastic and a pleasure to have in the house. We had extensive work done and there was a lot of upheaval for us as a family but the team were so accommodating and fitted temporary sinks and an induction hob to help us while the work was being done.
We are so pleased with the design and finished kitchen, my favorite feature is the colour scheme and the island unit and my husband loves the pull out larder system.
Its a lovely space to be in.”

Beautiful handmade shaker kitchen in Suffolk, with cooking, entertaining and home working at the heart of the design
Handmade Shaker Kitchen
Our latest photo shoot showcases a recently installed shaker kitchen in Suffolk with a truly bespoke design which involved removing a wall and complete re flooring. Our client was looking for a shaker style kitchen with a handpainted finish and quartzstone surfaces.
The house was built over 200 years ago and has been extended over the years from all directions.
Our customers felt that the original kitchen was dark with a wooden floor and a central island unit but it was badly laid out and it was a squash to get passed each other and not a practical space.
The couple work from home so needed areas to work and sit comfortably. They both love cooking so wanted to create a practical and social environment for family dining and entertaining guests.
We removed the wall in the middle of the room, opening up the space and allowing natural light from the angled roof windows into the kitchen area. Supporting walls either side remain but we used the opening as a space for breakfast bar / seating area looking into the kitchen. The oven and mantel is a main focal point with large prep area to left and sink to the right. We included a fridge freezer, integrated dishwasher, built in microwave, corner larder, and dresser unit.
We incorporated 2 working areas, a knee hole for low level working and a higher desk area so that the clients can work separately or side by side.
The worktops were mainly quartz for practicality with a blend of Oak on the desk, breakfast bar and dresser with coordinating chopping board and cutlery tray. The client chose handmade clays as a feature backsplash.
The entire kitchen was manufactured in our workshop and the shaker kitchen doors are painted by hand after installation.
The finished design opens up the space beautifully, allowing more natural light into the room and creating a social kitchen space which is practical and well laid out.
Here’s what our customers had to say:
“We are extremely pleased with our new kitchen. The new design works so well, the wall has been removed to open the seating area and is perfect for cooking, dining, entertaining and working. We both love cooking and it’s lovely now because it’s a social space and people can sit at the breakfast bar and chat, we’ve already had friends over and really enjoyed using the space.
What we really liked about working with Andrew was the open discussions that we had about the design. He was not afraid to give us his honest advice and we really valued his opinion. He took the time to understand what we were trying to achieve. We had complete confidence that Andrew would deliver what he said he would and we are delighted with the end result.
If I could sum it up in one word it would be trust, we had total trust in Andrew and everyone that works for him, they’re great guys and the work is of an excellent standard. Since we are so happy with our finished kitchen we have asked Debenvale to continue with our next phase, which is our bathrooms and these are set to start next year.
We would highly recommend Debenvale and have already have done so around the village.”

Some great ideas for choosing a kitchen or bathroom floor
When designing your kitchen or bathroom there are so many factors to consider; door styles, work surfaces, splash backs, appliances and of course flooring.
At our Suffolk based showroom we show a range of flooring on our kitchen and bathroom displays along with sample boards and tiles for you to see, feel and get some great design ideas for your kitchen or bathroom flooring. We will take time to discuss the many options with you during our design process and to ensure that your choice of flooring is the most suitable for your home and lifestyle.
For natural beauty, choose from travertine, limestone, marble, slate or terracotta. Stone floors are long lasting and are available in a range of sizes and finishes whether tumbled, brushed, honed or polished to achieve your desired look. Stone tiles are porous so we will carefully seal them for you once laid and provide advice on the most suitable cleaning products to maintain their beautiful finish.
Porcelain is a popular choice, being much harder than ceramic and so offering a durable and hardwearing floor while achieving a stunning finish. Porcelains can give the appearance of marble, stone or even wood, being waterproof and stain resistant they make a great choice for any kitchen or bathroom floor.
Another great idea for kitchen or bathroom floor tiles and currently on trend is to use decorative patterned tiles to provide a focal point or divide the floor area, to separate kitchen and dining for example. The effect is stunning.
Wood flooring offers warmth and gives character to your room. You can choose from a range of timber including Oak and Walnut.
A solid and structurally sound base is essential to avoid cracking or movement and this is all part of the work that our experienced fit team will undertake during the preparation process to make sure that your flooring stands the test of time.
Under floor heating can also be fitted under your flooring with a timed thermostat keeping you in control of your floor temperature all year round.

We’re delighted to share with you some of the latest comments received from our customers:
“We asked Debenvale to quote for a new bespoke kitchen, to replace the existing bathroom, to build a new en suite shower room and toilet and to create a ground floor cloakroom.
They worked in conjunction with our main building contractor as there were a great deal of structural alterations needed some of which were unforeseen and made the project a lengthy one.
Andrew Southgate, the director that worked with us, designed all the alterations that we needed and produced detailed specifications and computer aided graphics of the finished areas.
When it came to the time when building work in various areas would allow Debenvale to commence they sent in the appropriate tradesmen all of whom were highly skilled, hard working, pleasant and polite.
The standards that they worked to were of the highest order and they were meticulous in their execution. Andrew and his assistant Gemma were patient in as much as one could ask them innumerable questions and one was invariably met with informed answers in a very pleasant way.
We would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Debenvale for any of the above works and we are delighted with our renovated home.”
“Having the heart of your house ripped out can never be described as a pleasant experience and the upheaval for a short period is horrible. However the process from start to finish was very well organised and communication was good which meant that we were kept fully informed every step of the way, exactly what to expect and what was being done.
The fitters are all very professional, friendly and tidy and generally try to keep the mess / disruption down to a minimum. They also turn up when they say they are going to.
Now that everything is finished, we are delighted with the final result and would thoroughly recommend “Debenvale” to anyone.”
“When you start thinking about getting a new kitchen you don’t really know what will be involved or what to expect.
Andrew was very helpful, our kitchen is well designed so it’s great to work in and easy to keep clean and tidy, everything has its place. I’m really pleased with the appliances, everything works well together.
Our new kitchen is so much more than we expected, it has transformed the whole house. We’ve received so many comments from our friends and I’ve already been recommending Debenvale!
The whole team were great, so efficient, I really can’t fault anything, we are just so pleased.”
